Heaven on Earth

It’s here!

The day that seems to be what people prepare for all year. The past month we busy ourselves, running to and fro. We prep our homes and plan our gatherings for the holidays. We put up a tree, make those yummy Christmas cookies, build a gingerbread house, blast cheesy Christmas tunes, and then we wrap our sweet gifts that we save for all year to buy for those we treasure the most.

It is Christmas Eve and the Christmas season has peaked! Everyone is putting out the cookies for Santa, families are slipping into their matching pajamas and putting on that favorite Christmas movie.

All of that is SO special; so sweet. But I can’t help but think about the sweetest thing of all this Christmas... and every Christmas past and future. I can’t help but think about what Christmas is truly about.

Tonight we celebrate the birth of a Savior. A child born in a lowly manger who was sent to save.

The Alpha and The Omega, The Beginning and The End, The Great I Am, took the likeness of man in the flesh to leave glory and live among us.

This day is the day that Heaven came to earth!

“The word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” -John 1:14

For a long time Christmas, for me, was about the presents, and the traditions, and the food (which are all great and fun) but I was missing the big picture. I was missing the whole point. I was missing the reason for this beautiful season. I was missing our sweet savior, Jesus. I was missing our Messiah. I was missing salvation. I was missing the Truth that through the birth of a baby, God came to dwell among us as a man. He wasn’t glamorous. He was a carpenter that was born in a stable, rode on a donkey and was beaten and mocked. He knew the ending. Yet, he came. He carried our cross and then allowed himself to die on the cross so that through the sacrifice of the only true and perfect man, we would find freedom from our sin. That we would find hope in the Redemption that came through the cross.

the best part is that He did it WHILE we were sinners. We didn’t even love him yet!! And he still laid down his life for me? No greater love has been displayed... And it was all for His glory.

I don’t know where you are at when you are reading this, whether you know Jesus or even if this is the first time you heard of Jesus, you have been invited to join Him in glory. You have been offered freedom, free freedom from the darkness of the world because Jesus is the light. And with the light darkness has no place to stand.

If you don’t know the next step or where you would go to start following Jesus please reach out!! Hands down, the best choice you could ever make, is to follow Jesus. Follow Him the rest of your life, in every season, in every victory, in every trial. Because the world remains unfaithful and inconsistent. But Jesus? He's faithful and constant. Ever-pursuing and true. Pure and holy, worthy of all praise and all glory.

So all in all, Happy Birthday Jesus. Thank you for your enthralling love.
